About You
The successful candidate will be involved across all three project phases, acting as both Project Manager and Automation Expert. This includes completing and/or updating an existing specification document during the pre-study phase.
The candidate will:
- Manage the appointed engineering company during the pre-study phase
- Act as the main interface between production sites, head office technical teams, and equipment suppliers (Siemens, ABB, Ansaldo, GE, etc.)
- Provide expert technical guidance to steer studies toward pragmatic and efficient solutions, while ensuring compliance with company requirements and schedule constraints
The role also includes reviewing actions implemented by other CCGT operators across Europe.
Occasionally, the candidate may support other topics during tender consultation phases or contractor mobilization phases.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of rigor, organization, autonomy, anticipation, initiative, communication, and teamwork
- Ability to synthesize complex information and maintain a high-level, strategic perspective – Expert level
- Experience working with Siemens, ABB, Ansaldo, GE
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Project Manager in instrumentation, automation, control, and safety systems – Expert level
- Proven experience managing projects in instrumentation and industrial systems – Expert level
- Language skills: French and English
About the Role
The company operates Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plants that have been acquired over time from various historical operators. As a result, plant designs — particularly Digital Control System (DCS) and PLC architectures — are based on standards from manufacturers such as Siemens, GE, and Ansaldo.
Project Objectives
- Bring DCS and PLC systems into compliance with company standards by segregating Safety and Process Control functions, ensuring:
- Compliance with cybersecurity requirements
- Compliance with IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 standards
- Address equipment and software obsolescence issues
- Planned sites for next year France and Spin
Project Phases
The project is structured into the following phases:
- Selection Phase
Selection, through a call for tenders, of an independent engineering company to perform a pre-study. - Pre-Study Phase
Execution of the pre-study and definition of target architectures, including cost estimates. - Execution Phase
Call for tenders and contracting for detailed engineering, preparation, and execution of the selected architecture for site
Key Responsibilities
- Benchmarking actions implemented by other CCGT operators across Europe
- Finalization of pre-study specifications and call-for-tender documentation
- Collection and centralization of technical documentation from sites and manufacturers
- Updating of selected technical documents
- Preparation and management of project documentation, including project strategy, activity reports, meeting minutes, and planning
