Health & Safety Technician
Our client is a U.S.-based LNG provider supporting global energy needs through large-scale export operations. The company uses proven technologies and an innovative modular design to deliver reliable, efficient, and cost-effective LNG production.
This role reports to the HSSE Director for our client. The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a “boots on the ground” mentality to ensure Health & Safety fundamentals are consistently applied in the field. It will also serve as the immediate point of contact for all Health & Safety–related questions, concerns, and activities.
This is a contract position located in Cameron, Louisiana.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure that our client and contractor safety policies and procedures are followed

Serve as the field focal point for all Health & Safety–related questions, concerns, activities, and needs

Engage workers performing tasks unsafely and mentor them on correct measures or practices, reinforcing a safety-first mentality

Stop unsafe conditions, hazards, or scenes when possible

Conduct daily safety inspections, observations, and audits to address unsafe acts and conditions immediately

Perform facility audits, observations, surveys, and inspections to identify environmental, safety, and occupational hazards; develop recommendations for solutions or process improvements

Inform HSSE leadership about inspection, observation, and audit results, including deficiencies and mitigation measures

Ensure all accidents, incidents, or events are reported immediately to the Onsite Project Manager and Health and Safety Director

Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and effective corrective actions

Assist and support Emergency Response and Hurricane Response processes for the site

Participate as a member of the Site Safety Committee and in leadership walks

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

High School Education or equivalent required; degree and/or certification in Health & Safety Sciences or related field strongly preferred

Strong leadership skills demonstrated by at least five (5) years in a Health & Safety Technician role

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Health & Safety Technician or Specialist position; prior LNG, petrochemical, or oil and gas industry experience preferred

Completion of OSHA General Industry (CFR 29-1910) and/or Construction (CFR 29-1926)

Occupational Health and Safety knowledge, experience, or education involving job site hazard recognition, safety inspections/audits for permit to work, hazardous energy isolation, hot work, confined space entry, elevated work/fall protection, housekeeping, crane/hoisting, and rigging

Experience with Health and Safety policies, procedures, and standards in industrial operations, natural gas operations, or liquefaction facilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Any of the following certifications preferred (not required): OSHA 500, OSHA 510, CSP, CHST, LSP, OHST, ASP; CPR, First Aid, and AED certification also preferred

Eligible to work in the U.S., able to pass a drug test and background check

Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work off shifts and overtime as needed
