About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Power Plant Consultant to support advisory and dispute resolution projects involving power plant engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, incident investigations, and industry best practices.
This position is ideal for a senior power generation professional with extensive field experience who has held leadership positions in plant operations, maintenance, reliability, or engineering. You’ll work alongside industry experts to evaluate complex technical issues, provide strategic guidance to clients, conduct operational assessments, and support investigations involving major power generation assets.
You’ll leverage your operational expertise to analyze plant performance, evaluate maintenance strategies, support root cause investigations, assess project execution, and provide technical insight across the full lifecycle of power generation facilities.
About You
We’re looking for a seasoned power generation professional with a strong technical background and the ability to communicate complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
- Power plant operations, startup, shutdown, and operator training
- Plant maintenance planning, scheduling, and predictive/preventive maintenance programs
- Mechanical integrity, equipment reliability, and contractor management
- Maintenance outages, turnarounds, and project execution
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and equipment failure investigations
- Operating budgets, maintenance budgeting, and project economics
- Design, construction, commissioning, and startup of plant expansion or new-build projects
- Gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers, and associated power generation equipment
- High-pressure piping systems, industrial valves, and steam systems
- Electrical distribution systems including switchgear, transformers, relays, and disconnects
- Diagnosing operational and equipment performance issues
- Reliability methodologies such as RCM, RBI, RAM Studies, and FMEA
Experience with coal-fired, nuclear, waste-to-energy facilities, LNG power islands, data centers, emissions control systems, or OEM organizations is considered an asset.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline with significant power plant experience
- Minimum of 15 years of engineering, operations, maintenance, or reliability experience
- At least 10 years working in power generation facilities
- Five or more years in leadership or management positions overseeing operations, maintenance, or reliability functions
- Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Ability to explain complex engineering concepts in a clear and concise manner
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (typically less than 10%)
