About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Engineer – Grid Code and Interconnections to join a renewable energy technology team in Houston. This highly technical and visible position will focus on integrating wind, solar, battery storage, and other inverter-based resources into increasingly complex power systems.
You will lead interconnection studies, grid-code compliance assessments, dynamic simulations, and advanced modeling across major U.S. markets, including ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, SPP, and WECC. Using platforms such as PSCAD/EMTP, PSS/E, PowerFactory, and TSAT, you will perform system impact and compliance studies while evaluating weak-grid stability, low short-circuit ratio performance, ride-through behavior, control interactions, and grid-forming technologies.
The role will also involve developing, validating, and correlating EMT and RMS models, assessing model quality, and comparing simulation results against field measurements and disturbance data. You will support compliance with IEEE 2800, NERC reliability standards, FERC Orders, regional grid codes, and ISO/RTO interconnection requirements.
You will prepare technical reports, regulatory submissions, modeling documentation, and compliance packages while communicating findings to utilities, grid operators, consultants, regulators, and project stakeholders. Working closely with global research and development, field engineering, project, and product teams, you will help integrate new technologies and apply grid and field learnings to future product development.
As a senior technical resource, you will mentor engineers and may represent the organization in industry groups such as NERC, IEEE, CIGRÉ, and ESIG. This is a direct-hire, hybrid position based in Downtown Houston with travel of up to 20%.

About You
You are an experienced power-systems engineer with deep knowledge of renewable energy integration, utility interconnections, grid-code compliance, and inverter-based resources. You are equally comfortable performing detailed technical modeling and presenting or defending findings to utilities, grid operators, regulators, consultants, and project stakeholders.
You will bring a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline, along with at least 10 years of relevant experience. You should have hands-on experience modeling renewable power plants and inverter-based resources, with advanced proficiency in multiple simulation platforms such as PSCAD/EMTP, PSS/E, PowerFactory, or TSAT.
The ideal candidate will have delivered interconnection or compliance studies across one or more U.S. ISO/RTO markets and will understand voltage and frequency performance, fault ride-through, system strength, dynamic behavior, renewable plant controls, and model-quality requirements. Strong technical writing skills are essential, including experience preparing regulatory submittals, modeling reports, and compliance documentation.
Experience with grid-following or grid-forming controls, weak-grid and low-SCR performance, sub-synchronous control interactions, controller-driven stability, EMT-to-RMS correlation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or field-based model validation is highly valued. Experience with hybrid or co-located wind, solar, battery storage, and data-center projects, including plant-level controller coordination, is also beneficial.
You are an analytical and collaborative engineer who can manage multiple priorities, communicate complex concepts clearly, and work effectively across global and cross-functional teams. Contributions to industry working groups, standards development, technical publications, or conference papers would be an additional advantage.
