IT Business Analyst
IT Business Analyst
3-month initial W2 Contract
Downtown Houston
Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote)
About the Client
Our client is launching an in-house AI initiative through their PMO team to improve data accuracy, sustainability reporting, emissions visibility, and power analytics. Rather than implementing a third-party platform, the team is developing its own AI tool to extract, interpret, and transform data from more than 65 vendor invoices into meaningful business insights.
This is a high-visibility project sitting within a collaborative data analytics environment, working closely with developers, project leadership, and senior business stakeholders to bring the tool to life and ensure information flows accurately between systems.
About the Role
As a Business Analyst, you will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, technical teams, and the data analytics group. You will be responsible for gathering and documenting functional requirements, creating clear business and functional design documentation, and ensuring the project team has the structure needed to deliver successfully.
You will support UAT by coordinating testing plans, validating results, tracking issues, and ensuring the solution meets business expectations. The role will also involve supporting data mapping and integrations between AI models, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI, while helping define data refresh schedules, reporting rules, and derived calculation methods to ensure accuracy across sustainability and analytics reporting.
This person will need to be proactive, detail-oriented, and confident communicating with busy stakeholders, including VPs, Directors, developers, and project managers, to keep deliverables moving and ensure requirements are clearly understood.
About You
You will bring 3 to 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, ideally within data-driven, analytics, reporting, or system-related projects. You are comfortable writing structured documentation such as BRDs, FDDs, specifications, test scripts, and design documents, and you understand how to translate technical information into clear business language.
You will have strong Power BI experience and familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or similar data management tools. Experience supporting UAT, data validation, stakeholder alignment, and fast-paced project delivery will be important. Exposure to AI or generative AI tools, data extraction from complex systems such as Allegro or Maximo, sustainability or emissions reporting, or oil and gas would be highly beneficial but is not required.
